The Gaios Trail, located in the parish of Midões, is one of the main tourist attractions of the municipality of Tábua. Most of the route runs parallel to a watercourse, a tributary of the Mondego River, offering direct contact with nature. Hiking and mountain biking are the most common activities along this trail, which stands out for its watermills and traditional mills along the way, remnants of the region’s rural life. With its centre in the village of Vale de Gaios, the main route extends for about 10 kilometres along the Cavalos River, from the Sevilha Waterfalls to the village of Ribeira. Along the way, there are also additional paths for those who wish to explore and enjoy the natural landscape. This route can be enjoyed for most of the year, offering an invitation to discover the natural and cultural richness of the municipality of Tábua.
