The Serra da Estrela impresses with its mountainous landscapes, glacial valleys, and unique nature, making it one of Portugal’s most iconic and authentic destinations.
The Serra da Estrela, with a maximum altitude of 1,993 meters at Torre, is an area of rare scenic beauty, marked by impressive mountain slopes. It is a place where visitors can experience moments of connection with nature, observing the diversity of vegetation, birds, and flocks of sheep guided by dogs of the breed named after the mountain. Snow arrives every year in the Serra da Estrela, covering the scars left by wildfires, particularly those that swept through the area in 2022, transforming the birch forests into a unique landscape. In the Vale do Rossim, located at around 1,300 meters of altitude, the scenery turns pure white, including forests of Scots pine and Douglas fir. A natural spectacle that attracts visitors on cold, sunny days to explore the mountain.
